Bishop’s Move helps local charities and communities
Local fundraising can always do with a helping hand and for local charities, small donations can make a considerable difference to their ability to serve the community and continue the excellent work they do.

Bishop's Move has a long tradition of supporting both national and local charities that benefit the communities they work within.  Their 'Declutter & Donate' scheme raises money for national charities such as the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Sense and Chest Heart Stroke Scotland.  Their emphasis for 2017 is to look at directly supporting local communities by focusing on working with a network of smaller local charities.

Each branch has chosen a charity working within their area to look to support either through the popular ‘Declutter & Donate’ scheme or via various community sponsorship opportunities. Their ‘Declutter & Donate’ scheme allows Bishop’s Move to provide support through donations received from customers that are collected on the move date and then are distributed to the respective local charity store. They currently work with a wide selection of charities such as Devon Air Ambulance Trust (Devon), Martin House (Yorkshire), The Children's Trust Tadworth (Surrey), St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Chichester), Springfield School (Oxfordshire), Branching Out (Cambridgeshire) and The Button Box (Midlothian).

Aside from the Donate & Declutter scheme Bishop’s Move are welcoming potential local sponsorship opportunities. Bishop’s Move Oxford branch currently sponsor the school minibus for Springfield Special Needs School in Witney as well as assisting with delivering donations of furniture for use in the school.

Currently looking to expand their local support, Bishop’s Move Edinburgh branch have embarked on a new partnership working with Diane Janczyk and Clair McLaren, co-founders of the ‘The Button Box ‘, in the Midlothian area. This innovative charity looks to support families in the Midlothian area by collecting donations of children’s clothing all year round whilst holding events throughout the year giving families the chance to access free clothing to support their growing families.

"Building strong local communities is about understanding, appreciating, and caring for the people that live within them," comments co-founder of ‘The Button Box’, Diane Janczyk.

Bishop’s Move started assisting in the latter part of 2016 collecting and helping to store the donated items which so far has proved highly popular, producing large volumes of donated items and directly benefiting the branch’s local community.

Chris Marshall, Bishop’s Move Marketing Director, comments: "One of the reasons I think it is so rewarding for businesses and our employees to help the local communities around them is that the results are so visible and significant. It’s inspiring to see the donations making a real difference that can be seen, such as helping the local school buy a new minivan.  It is our intention to support organisations in our local communities who will greatly benefit from the donations from the ‘Declutter & Donate’ scheme or through our active sponsorship of local schemes.  As a nationwide company who has branches throughout the country we want to ensure we remain focused on the local areas where we operate and feel part of these local communities."
