A Greener Way to Move

Bishop's Move are not new converts to the 'green way' of doing business - we have been there from the beginning, over 165 years ago

Our green ethos permeates every aspect of our day-to-day operations as removers, warehousemen, shippers, packers, general hauliers, distributors, freight-forwarders, property owners and landlords. To implement this Policy and to achieve our environmental objectives all of our staff use company processes and procedures that comply with and are certified to the requirements of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems.

Greener Company Initiative - Plant A Tree

Through our Greener Company Initiative, there is an option to donate £5 to support the environment and reduce the carbon emissions of your removal.

Your donation provides funding for the planting and upkeep of one tree through World Land Trust's Plant a Tree programme which is restoring deforested areas around the globe.

Your donations will be made in full and will help support the replenishment of habitat for many at risk species whilst reducing the carbon footprint of moving home.

Planting a tree to help save the planet is not our only green initiative. We take the environmental impact in to consideration throughout and here are some of the things that we do to turn our Environmental Policy into reality in our day-to-day operations:

Transport

  • Selecting vehicles on a life cycle cost basis that takes into account fuel efficiency, emissions, maintenance and repair costs.
  • Minimising empty running by better planning.

Fuel Efficiency 

  • Operating a “full inflation” policy to ensure our fleet tyres are inflated to manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Fitting wind deflectors to all of our removal vehicles.
  • Having a fleet replacement policy in line with London's Low Emission Zone requirements.
  • As a national company we are able to assign local crews to local relocations to minimise travel times and carbon emissions.

Staff

  • Involving staff in recycling schemes for office and warehouse waste.
  • Implementing a minimal printing policy but if required only printing double sided.
  • Training drivers in fuel efficient driving strategies.

Suppliers

  • Selecting suppliers and partners that have sound environmental policies.
  • Working with our suppliers to get the best environmental results for both parties.

Recycling Schemes

  • Encouraging clients to use our specialised house furniture recycling schemes.
  • Encouraging clients to use our established computer recycling schemes.
