Bishop's Move & National Trust hit right notes at Polesden Lacey

Bishop’s Move were happy to assist with the National Trust's Community Piano Programme at Polesden Lacey in Surrey.

The National Trust’s regency house, Polesden Lacey are aiming to raise £40,000 to fund repair and conservation works on their Steinway grand piano and looking to raise awareness by running a Community Piano Project this Summer. Local people have kindly donated their pianos which will give schools in the area the opportunity to visit and decorate these pianos. They will be on display around the grounds of Polesden Lacey over the school Summer holidays for visitors to play their own tunes.

Bishop’s Move, the UK’s largest privately-owned removal and storage company, were delighted to have been able to help by collecting pianos from several local Surrey locations and delivering to the popular Edwardian House in Great Bookham, near Dorking, Surrey.

Caroline Williams, House and Collections Manager at Polseden Lacey comments: “Music is so important to Polesden Lacey as the previous owner, Mrs Greville, had her own Steinway in the Saloon and used to invite famous musicians of the time to come and play at her parties.  We want to make sure the spirit of music lives on at Polesden through raising the funds to restore our Steinway and having some fun with it along the way. Bishop’s Move were so helpful and professional when it came to moving the pianos – we are so grateful for their help with our fundraising project.”

Bishop’s Move’s Marketing Director, Chris Marshall comments: “It’s always a pleasure to be able to give something back to our local community and we were proud to have been involved in such an interesting project at such a stunning location.”
