£50k worth of donations sent to the Children’s Trust

Bishop’s Move’s Crawley branch and its Brighton-based self-storage facility, Ease the Squeeze, can today announce that throughout the past 12 months, they have provided £50,000 worth of items to Surrey-based The Children’s Trust Tadworth through its ‘De-clutter & Donate Service’. The charity has received the donations, at an average of £19 worth of items per bag, as the removals company picks up and stores any unwanted items from people moving home before being collected by The Children’s Trust representatives.

Bishop’s Move, the UK’s largest family owned removals and storage company, launched its ‘De-clutter & Donate Service’ in 2012. The scheme sees Bishop’s Move’s removal men provide home movers with The Children’s Trust Donation Sacks prior to their move, should they wish to donate any unwanted items to the charity. On the day of the move the Bishop’s Move vans collect and store the items, which can range from clothes to electrical equipment, ready for collection. This format also enables the home owner to de-clutter and create more space ahead of their anticipated move and throughout 2014 3,000 bags full of items have been supplied to the charity.

Once Bishop’s Move’s removal team from both the Crawley and Brighton branches have a transit worth of items, The Children’s Trust Tadworth collects the new stream of charitable donations ready to distribute to its shop in Surrey.

The money raised from these donations will support The Children's Trust as it offers expert rehabilitation, education, therapy and care for children with severe brain injuries at their specialist centre in Tadworth, supporting children and families from across the UK.

Steve Littler, Bishop’s Move Area Manager, comments: “Working with The Children’s Trust has been a humbling experience and one that has opened the eyes of many of us at Bishop’s Move. We are just very appreciative to have been given the opportunity to do our bit and support so any inspiring children and their families through the de-clutter & donate service.”
