£3k worth of donations sent to the CHSS

Bishop’s Move Edinburgh, part of the Bishop’s Move Group - the UK’s largest family owned removals company – can today announce that throughout the past 12 months, it has provided more than £3,000 worth of items to one of Scotland’s leading charities through its ‘De-clutter & Donate Service’. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland(CHSS) has received the donations, at an average of £10 worth of items per bag, as the removals company picks up and stores any unwanted items from people moving home. The charity can also now boast £3,000 in stock donations at its CHSS stores.

This scheme has also helped increase awareness of CHSS by placing its branded bags in approximately 5,000 homes. This not only raises knowledge of donating stock to the charity but also means that potentially 5,000 more Scottish families are aware of CHSS and its position in helping those affected by chest, heart or stroke.

In addition, for the past three years Bishop’s Move has also assisted CHSS with its annual Roadblock Run, providing one of its larger vehicles as an obstacle which is strategically placed on the course for the competitors to negotiate. As a result, it has helped the charity raise over £120,000.

Bishop’s Move Edinburgh and CHSS have both enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the removal company launching its ‘De-clutter & Donate Service’ with the charity back in 2012. The scheme sees all Bishop’s Move’s removal men throughout Scotland provide home movers with CHSS Charity Donation Sacks prior to their move, should they wish to donate any unwanted items to the charity. On the day of the move the Bishop’s Move vans collect and store the items, which can range from clothes to electrical equipment, ready to be picked up by CHSS representatives. This format also enables the home owner to de-clutter and create more space ahead of their anticipated move.

Once the Bishop’s Move Edinburgh removal team has a transit worth of items, CHSS collects the new stream of charitable donations ready to distribute throughout its 25 shops in Scotland. The items are then sold to help raise money for the charity which needs to raise £6 million each year to fund its programme of support for people suffering from chest, heart and stroke illness.

David Mills, Bishop’s Move General Manager, Scotland, comments: “We hand out five CHSS donation bags on every sales call we go on regardless of whether or not the customer subsequently chooses Bishop's Move. That way CHSS still benefits from reaching an audience they wouldn't otherwise be able to engage with. The feedback from all customers is that the service offered is fantastic. Working with CHSS has been more than a pleasure. Both CHSS and Bishop’s Move share a unique understanding of one another in terms of our objectives and the functionality of each organisation. I like to think our de-clutter service has helped enhance the lives of those who suffer or who have suffered from the illnesses which CHSS does so much to support.”

Alison Acosta of CHSS comments: “Recently we have found more and more people taking up the offer of the de-clutter service and therefore we are picking up stock on a more regular basis from David and his team which is great to see. We can’t thank them enough for their commitment and unwavering support over the past three years."
